Web & Graphic Design Start here for simple ideas on how to bring "multimedia" (images, audio and video) into your curriculum. Digital Images. Visual images enrich any Humanities course. The Media Center can show you simple ways to digitize your image from print or slides, as well as organize and annotate them. We also recommend that instructors explore the wealth of already digitized images that are available online. And don't forget Powerpoint: we can help you create Powerpoint presentations and convert them to Breeze or HTML. For more detailed information, contact the Media Center for an appointment. Video/Webcasting. Video clips that fall within the guidelines of Educational Fair Use may be made accessible as links from WebCT course websites, or compiled on a CD or DVD or used in a PowerPoint or Breeze presentation. Multimedia Consultants in the Media Center can help you produce clips from videotapes, miniDV tapes, or DVDs. Audio/Podcasting. Audio clips that fall within the guidelines of Educational Fair Use may be made accessible as links from WebCT course websites. Media Center consultants can help you produce digital audio clips or longer "podcasts" for student listening outside of class. For more information about podcasting audio, click here. Web Projects and Interactive Sites. The Media Center regulary provide assistance with basic HTML and web design. For more advanced web design and interactivity, other software tools may be needed, such as Fireworks or Flash. Fireworks offers tools for producing graphics, image maps, and pop-up menus. Flash offers tools for animating and making websites more interactive. For instruction on advanced web design and web-based features, please email The Media Center for an appointment. Screencasting. Occasionally instructors would like to capture a demonstration from the computer screen in video format. The Media Center offers a program called Captivate. Click here to view and example of Captivate. |
